About The Program

The UTK Strategic & Digital Communications Program

The University of Tennessee Knoxville offers an online Master of Science in Strategic and Digital Communications designed for working professionals who want to expand their skills in communication strategy, digital media, branding, and content creation. The program allows students to advance their careers while continuing to work full-time by offering flexible online coursework that can be completed from anywhere.

Students in the program come from a wide range of professional backgrounds including marketing, public relations, nonprofit organizations, corporate communications, media, and business. Many students are already working in communication-related roles and are looking to strengthen their strategic thinking, digital skills, and leadership abilities.

Who This Program Is Designed For

Because the program is designed for working professionals, many students balance multiple responsibilities while completing their degree. In addition to coursework, students may also be managing demanding careers, family responsibilities, and personal commitments.

The online format makes the program accessible to students across the country, but it also requires strong time management, organization, and self-discipline. Students often need to manage asynchronous coursework, discussion boards, group projects, and deadlines while maintaining their professional and personal lives.

About This Website

This Busy Working Student Toolkit was created as part of a class project for INSC 589 – Web Design taught by Dr. Demissie at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. The purpose of this project was to design and build a multi-page website that provides useful resources for a specific audience.

Our group chose to focus on working graduate students in the Strategic and Digital Communications program because we understand the challenges of balancing graduate coursework with professional and personal responsibilities. This toolkit was created to share practical strategies and resources that can help students stay organized, manage their time effectively, and maintain balance while completing their degree.
